Wealden District Council has launched it’s ‘Love your Wealden Markets’ campaign for 2020.
From Saturday 7 March to the end of April, residents and visitors are being encouraged to support Wealden businesses and buy local. With a number of regular farmers’ markets to choose from, there is plenty of fresh, seasonal and locally sourced produce to enjoy.
Cllr Roy Galley, Cabinet Member for Economic Development said; “We’re delighted to be working together with Wealden’s local producers and farming community to raise the profile of our local markets.”
He added; “As well as supporting the local economy, residents and visitors can reap the many health benefits of eating locally produced food. Buying local also benefits the environment by cutting down on unnecessary plastic packaging and wasteful bulk buying.”
“We hope that by celebrating our local markets, this campaign will also help to attract new start-up businesses and stallholders to the district.”
