With long-haul travel a distant dream for most of 2020, we look ahead to Summer 2021 where Western Canada is proving popular.

Angie Watson from Experience Holidays explains…

It combines key ingredients for a great holiday – incredible scenery, fantastic wildlife and a plethora of activities to choose from such as hiking, horse riding, kayaking and rafting.

The cherry on top is that there are plenty of suitable accommodation options for social distancing. Consider hiring a motorhome for greater flexibility, or stay in apartments instead. Below is a sample itinerary for the region.

Begin in Vancouver, an attractive and vibrant city. Spend a few days exploring – with Robson Street your central point for shopping and restaurants, Stanley Park for a little of the outdoors and the waterfront to watch float planes come and go.

Collect your vehicle, leaving the city via the Lions Gate Bridge as you head for Whistler. A ski resort in the winter months,Whistler is alive with summer activities too. The lifts are open, and summer is a beautiful time to explore Whistler Valley.

Wells Gray Provincial Park is your next destination for a stay near the Park entrance. This beautiful park boasts stunning mountain scenery, deep canyons and spectacular waterfalls (including Helmcken Falls).

Travelling the Yellowhead Highway passing Mount Robson as you drive, cross into the province of Alberta. Jasper is a great town in the heart of the Canadian Rocky Mountains and your base. Explore Jasper National Park, visit Maligne Canyon and take rafting trip on the Athabasca River.

Drive south along one of the most scenic drives in North America, The Icefields Parkway. Stop en-route at the Columbia Icefield to take a ride onto the Athabasca Glacier in the Ice Explorer. Continue to Banff and explore Banff National Park. Experience a gondola ride up Sulphur Mountain, a visit to Bow Falls and Johnston Canyon, a scenic drive to Lake Louise and Moraine Lake, and more. End your road trip with a drive to Calgary.

For 2021 capacity is limited, and as such early book- ing is advisable. Flight inclusive holidays booked with Experience Holidays are ATOL protected for your peace of mind.
