Update on Haulaway’s Red Box Scheme

In 2016, Haulaway began a kerbside collection service providing residents of Hailsham with a box to put all their unwanted newspapers, magazines, and cardboard in. 

These boxes are then emptied, and the collected paper and card is baled and sent for recycling, with 50 percent of the rebate paid for this material being donated to St Wilfrid’s Hospice. Since the scheme began, we have donated over £23,000 to St Wilfrid’s Hospice which has completely exceeded our expectations when we started this and has been a fantastic way to mark our Companies 25th anniversary!

Like everything over the past few months, our papers for St Wilfrid’s collections were forced to stop when the Country went into lockdown back in March. So, we were super excited when we got the green light to start collecting again on 1st June, as were many Hailsham residents!

We would like to thank everyone who was able to store their paper and cardboard during this time, this was greatly appreciated and had our now two man team working extra hard to clear the mountains of paper and cardboard filling the towns verges! 

We collected over 27 tonnes throughout June which is a huge achievement considering we hadn’t collected for two months. We would also like to thank all those who came to our site in Hailsham to drop off their
paper and cardboard when we couldn’t collect…your dedication is wonderful.

Please keep filling those boxes and donating your used paper and cardboard, it all helps to make a difference and provide vital funds to St Wilfrid’s Hospice.
